New Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Circumpolar Health

The International Association of Circumpolar Health Publishers (IACHP) is pleased to announce the January 2012 appointment of Dr Kue T. Young as Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Circumpolar Health (IJCH). Dr. Young MD (McGill), MSc (Toronto), DPhil (Oxford) is a professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto, where he holds the endowed TransCanada Chair in Aboriginal Health, and has long been a leader in circumpolar health.

He devoted much of his career as primary care physician, public health administrator and academic researcher in northern Canada. For his contributions he was awarded the Order of Canada in 2010, the highest civilian honor in Canada. He is also a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, former President of the International Union of Circumpolar Health (IUCH) and founding president of the International Network for Circumpolar Health Research (INCHR).

Dr. Young has previously served as one of several scientific editors of the Journal, as a senior editor of the Circumpolar Health Supplements, and in 2008, with Dr. Peter Bjerregaard, as Co-editor of the new text Health Transitions in Arctic Populations, published by University of Toronto Press.

He thus brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new leadership role at the Journal. Please join me in thanking Dr. Young for his extensive circumpolar contributions, and welcoming him as our new Editor-in-Chief.
